Wow, what a great weekend! I’m so inspired by how many activities you manage to do and how intentional you are about your time. I feel like I have a lot of weekends where it’s hard to think of what I really did outside of like walking the dog, working on my laptop, scrolling on my phone, reading books to my daughter, etc. I definitely want to be better about getting out of the house and spending my time in more enjoyable and energizing ways.
I will say that I have always been very go-go-go on the weekends and I have tried to keep that up with Jojo--we definitely try to work in some chill time, but I always want to make the most of those weekends!!
Those lemon head hats are SO CUTE! Did your friend make them or did she buy them somewhere?
Could you share the lemon zest rice krispie treat recipe you used? We are having a lemonade stand in late June to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand to raise money for childhood cancer research funding (a cause very near & dear to our heart as one of ALSF's grants funded the research that approved the targeted therapy Charlie was able to take that significantly impacted her treatment outcomes, only FDA approved in 2018!). I am starting to plan all of the details for our lemonade stand, and I was thinking about selling some lemon baked goods. This one looks so fun for the kids!
For the adults I think I'm going to do the lemon turmeric cookies that were very popular in NYT Cooking awhile back!
My friend made them - she immediately said after finishing "I've never felt more like I should open an Etsy store" and I AGREE. Are they not the cutest??
The rice krispie treats weren't from a recipe - she just added about a lemon's worth of zest, some lemon concentrate and condensed milk. They were GOOD!
I also think that meyer lemon bars would have been a big hit and would have been easy to portion into small squares to sell. Next time!
Would gladly send some funds up your way for a glass of lemonade to support Alex's Lemonade Stand and have a glass of lemonade at home in solidarity! <3 <3 <3
They are SO CUTE! We always say "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" so in our family, whenever we come across a glimmer or an unexpected delight we always yell LEMONADE!
This recipe sounds amazing - I just Googled to get the exact proportions and I am going to test it out 1st a few weeks before... you know, for RESEARCH and all LOL.
I agree re: meyer lemon bars though admittedly with the work required to juice the lemons for the lemonade, I may try to find a baked good recipe with the least amount of lemon juicing as possible ha!
That lemon turmeric cake sounds so amazing. I am going to make it some time! +1 to a "bowl of wet" + "bowl of dry" baking. My go-to in this genre is the Smitten Kitchen Buttermilk Raspberry Cake. Been making it for at least 15 years now esp in the summer for a backyard dinner/picnic and it's always a huge hit! https://smittenkitchen.com/2009/05/raspberry-buttermilk-cake/
